Remembering Ernest’s Wild Splash Mountain Ride On August 19, 1989, Disney aired a half-hour special featuring Ernest P. Worrell as the very first person to ride Disneyland’s newest attraction — Splash Mountain. In classic Ernest style, he trained, panicked, and finally took the plunge… with no safety restraints. The ride became an instant classic, blending music, storytelling, and that unforgettable drop. Though it closed in 2023 for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, Ernest’s fearless first ride remains

Did anybody else grow up watching Ernest P. Worrell? Those commercials, the movies, the way he talked straight to the camera like you were his best friend. He was everywhere for a while and somehow always funny without trying too hard. It feels like one of those characters that was just consistently good and then slowly disappeared, but if you grew up with Ernest, you never forgot him. Who remembers Ernest? #nostalgia #genx #80skids #90skids #throwbacktv
